Valentia and the team finally rest after the strenuous competition in California
Valentia, the prototype presented by the team from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), finally rests after participating in the Hyperloop Pod Competition III, where was ranked among the top 10 ‘pods’ against more than 300 other universities from all over the world. After a strenuous -but productive- week, the entire team worked restlessly to prove why they are in the final stage year after year.
Our prototype got off to a great start, being able to successfully pass the majority of the tests proposed by SpaceX. Furthermore, we got on the spotlight with the revealing of the actual body of Valentia. By combining futuristic and aerodynamic outlines, its elegance was admitted by our advisors from SpaceX, alongside all the other competing teams.
Notwithstanding the amazing work, we unfortunately suffered the same fate as the other favorite teams: the enormous batteries. They were responsible for energizing the powerful electric engines installed on our prototype. At full charge, they could have launched it around 400 km per hour. Unfortunately, this unexpected issue deprived our ‘pod’ of running in the Hypertrack.
Only three universities were able to get to the final stage: Munich, Delft and Lausanne (Warr, Delft Hyperloop and EPFL, respectively). Finally, predictions came true and the Technische Universität München took the win home, as they reached a top speed of 467 km per hour.

Durante una agotadora pero productiva semana, el equipo al completo estuvo trabajando sin descanso para demostrar por qué año tras año consigue clasificarse hasta la final.
